Weather and climate

Should I Pack T-shirts or Sweaters?

South Korea has a temperate climate with four distinct seasons. Winters are usually long, cold and dry. Summers are very short, hot, and humid. In the middle of the year there is a wet monsoon/summer and a cold winter starting from November until March. The Korean summer starts in June and lasts until early September. It’s usually hot and very humid. Half of the annual rainfall occurs during the wet/monsoon season from late June to early July. The hottest period is from Mid-July through mid-August.  Temperatures in the summer reach 22.5° C to 29° (71°- 75° F) but it can feel hotter because it is very humid. Spring and autumn are very pleasant but short.  So depending the month that you will be attending summer school in Korea you will need a good raincoat, umbrella or just summer clothes. If you are attending summer school during the monsoon be sure to bring a good raincoat! Umbrellas are sold everywhere, so save yourself the trouble of bringing it to Korea!
